Welcome Message

Greetings from “World Cancer Congress 2018”!

Engage yourself to participate at your career improvising “World Congress on Cancer Therapy and Diagnostic Expo”.

It gives us immense pleasure to welcome you to the “World Cancer Congress 2018” in Abu Dhabi. A conference bringing together some of the most recognised names in healthcare and pharmacy practice, providing all of us the opportunity to gain international research knowledge about cancer.

The conference includes Prompt Keynote Presentations, Special Sessions, Workshop, Symposium, Oral talks, Poster Presentations and Sponsors/Exhibitor.

Scientific Session

Session 1. Cancer:

Our bodies are comprised of trillions of cells. Malignancy begins with changes in a single cell or a number of cells. For the most part, we have quite the correct number of each kind of cell. This is on account of signals delivered to cells about the control of cell growth. On the off chance that any of these signs are defective or missing, cells may begin to develop and duplicate excessively and shape a cluster called a tumour

  • Cancer cell size
  • Types of Cancer
  • Malignant Tumour
  • Benign Tumour

Session 2. Chemotherapy:

Chemotherapy refers to the drugs that prevent the growth of cancer cells. It kills the dividing cells. However, it has also adverse effect on healthy cells which results as a side effect. For the treatment single drug or a combination of drugs are used. These can be delivered either directly to blood or can be directed to a targeted site.

Session 3. Immunotherapy:

Immunotherapy is a biologic therapy that boosts the body’s natural defence to fight cancer by the use of natural made or laboratory made substances to restore the immune system function. It helps body fight infections and other diseases. The therapy falls into three general categories i.e., checkpoint inhibitors used to disrupt the signals that allow cancer cells to hide from an immune attack, cytokines, protein molecules that regulates the immune system and cancer vaccines used to prevent cancer by targeting the immune system.

  • Cancer inhibitors
  • Cytokines
  • Clinical Cancer Immunology

Session 4. Targeted Therapy:

Targeted therapy uses drugs but differs from chemotherapy as it only targets to specific genes or proteins. The drugs used in the therapy are often referred to as molecularly targeted drugs. Targeted therapies are currently the focus of much anti-cancer drug development. It works by blocking tumour cell proliferation that is they are cytostatic..

Session 5. Leukaemia- Blood Cancer:

This is the case where bone marrow starts making too many white blood cells. The blood cells are not fully fledged thus they don’t work legitimately. The abnormal cells build up in the blood. These are the most common type of cancer in children but makes up 3 out of 100 cases per year.

  • Granulocytic leukaemia
  • Acute myeloid leukaemia
  • Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

Session 6. Brain and Spinal Cord Cancer:

Growth can begin in the cells of the mind or spinal cord. The brain sends electrical messages along nerve fibres. The strands come up short on the mind and combine to make the spinal string, which additionally takes messages from the body to the cerebrum. It occurs in 3 out of 100 cases of cancer.

  • Brain tumour
  • Spinal cord cancer

Session 7. Women Health and Breast Cancer:

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer after skin cancer among women worldwide. It is also the second leading cause of death after lung cancer. It may include lumps in breast or armpit, change in breast shape or dimpling of skin. The cells in the breast tissue change and keep producing which leads to a tumour. It is caused by genetic mutation in breathe DNA of breast cancer cells.

Carcinomas are the most widely recognized kind of growth. They make up around 85 out of each 100 growths (85%). It begins in epithelial tissues. These cover the outside of the body as the skin. They additionally cover and line every one of the organs inside the body, for example, the organs of the stomach related framework. What's more, they line the body pits, for example, within the chest pit and the stomach depression.

Session 12. Surgical Oncology:

The tumour and nearby tissues are removed by surgery. Certain types of biopsies are done to diagnose cancer. Whether a patient requires undergoing a surgery or not is decided by the factors such as the type, size, location, grade and stage of the tumour. Cancer treatment sometimes may result in change in appearance of a body part which may later be repaired with re- constructive surgery.

Cancer prevention can be done to lower the risk of getting cancer which is maintained mainly by attaining healthy lifestyle, avoiding then exposure to carcinogenic substance, and taking vaccines or medicines at precautionary level. Cancer in general terms is caused by changes in genes that control the way our body functions. In 2017, more than 1.6 million people were diagnosed with cancer in USA. By only preventing the disease a number of cases can be lowered. Cancer is not a single disease but a group of certain other diseases associated with it. A number of cancer causes, its prevention and early detection is main focus of the session.

Session 15. Cancer treatment and Economics:

Cancer treatment may vary with the type of cancer one develops. It may differ from one single treatment to a combination of treatments such as surgery with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Where these treatments have proved to be a boon for the chronic disease like cancer, it is also very uneconomical and expensive. How these treatments can be cost-effective and thrifty is yet to be discussed and developed. In the session, cancer treatments will be focused in contrary with the economy of an individual.

  • Hormone therapy
  • Stem cell transplant
  • Precision medicine

Session 16. Cancer Diagnostic Tools & Techniques:

Diagnostic testing involves tests and procedures in order to confirm the correct tumour type, location, stage and extent. For an accurate treatment plan to be developed, a thorough and accurate cancer diagnosis should be conducted. Complete array of diagnostic tests confirm the diagnosis and individualised treatment. The involvement of latest tools and techniques in the diagnosis of cancer can help the doctors to cure the disease in early stages.

Market Analysis

It is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality, Globally, the number of deaths from cancer increased from 7.6 million in 2008 to 8.2 million in 2012 and is projected to hit 11.5 million in 2025. Meanwhile, new cases worldwide went up from 12.7 million in 2008 to 14.1 million in 2012. It is expected to rise to 19.3 million in 2025.

A report by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi showed that since 2012, cancer has been the second leading cause of deaths in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is the No. 2 cause of death among nationals and No. 3 among expatriates. In total, the disease accounts for 15 percent of deaths.

According to a report by Department of Health- Abu Dhabi, the top five cancers in males are:

  • Leukaemia
  • Colorectal Cancer
  • Prostate Cancer
  • Non-Hodgkins Cancer
  • Brain Cancer
